Brixham, although recently under a blanket of snow, is shaping up for spring! The local property market saw a busy January and February and usually that is a good indicator of a healthy spring market.
Before this last snowfall there were plenty of signs of the town shaping up for Easter and the new tourist season. There are some new businesses preparing to open and existing shops, restaurants and cafes are sprucing themselves up. Brixham is blessed to have two very strong industries, fishing and tourism. There are not many towns in the UK of this size that can boast of having two prosperous industries.
Over the last five years we have undoubtedly seen sizeable investments into the holiday home industry with many of our harbour cottages undergoing serious refurbishments. Consequently the experience for the holiday maker is very much enhanced as they can choose from a number of quality cottages and properties to enjoy their staycations. The result is more money being pumped into the local economy in many different ways. Builders and local trades are kept busy and there is more disposable income being spent in the restaurants, cafes and pubs etc.
We are sure that once again this year, we will see many more people from Torquay and Paignton come over to Brixham to enjoy the ever improving and varied eateries, bars and pubs. More and more South Devon folk are visiting the town for a lunch or dinner to complement their stroll around the lovely harbour area.
