Boyce Brixham were delighted to once again work alongside the school with this great learning experience. Mark Boyce, managing director, explained ‘we have been doing this now for a number of years and when Mrs Shorter (school project leader) invited us back we were only too pleased to join in. We go into the school at the beginning of term and tell the children what we are looking for and give them some pointers.’
The children in years 5 & 6 then have to create a project card to advertise a home (often their own) using photos, persuasive language, floor plans, & creative marketing ideas. Each of the four classes vote for their own favourite based on: quality of language, attractiveness, level of effort. The four class winners this year were Hollie Todd, Florence Mercer, Ben Wardman, and Hugh Akeroyd. These four children then had to present to the three judges from Boyce Brixham which nicely included two ex- Eden Park pupils (Samantha Boyce & Sam Jackson).
The competition was really close but the eventual winner was Hollie and her work can be seen proudly hanging up in Boyce Brixham’s Fore Street main window! The three runner ups have their work on display at the Linden Homes White Rock development (Linden also support the project).
Mark added ‘it is a great learning experience and very relevant as many of the children watch property programmes on T.V. and already have the ‘talk’! We really enjoy participating in this project and the standard is really quite excellent.’
