Although the stats on our latest Market Snapshot (which can be found by clicking here ), there is a word of caution. The RICS is expecting “downturn momentum” in prices nationally in the near term. Longer term, over the next 12 months it expects house prices to rise or hold steady in all regions except London & the South East. We have detected a swing from a ‘full seller’s market’ to now seeing purchasers having more influence. For many years it has been a strong seller’s market and it is no surprise that we are now seeing the market balance up.
The first few weeks of January were more active than in 2018. There seems to be a determination to ‘just get on with things’ despite the woes at Westminster! We do feel that in 2019 vendors must be balanced with their asking prices and as previously mentioned, we feel that purchasers will begin to hold a stronger hand.
We are still extremely optimistic for the Brixham property market and for the town in general. Recently, Brixham was featured on both Sky News’ morning edition (Live Brexit debate filmed on the harbour side) and BBC’s The One Show (casting the spotlight on our underwater creatures!). Both programmes were watched by millions of people and there was some beautiful imagery and aerial shots of our town.
