With Easter nearly with us I am pleased to report that the town continues to progress nicely. As you approach the town you will have noticed the toll gate house has been sympathetically restored. Further along New Road, with a good show of blossom in the trees, we have Torbay’s newest fuel station nearing completion. At Bolton Cross the new Gateway building is really taking shape, which will really improve the visual approach into the town centre.
Around the harbour things look spic and span and the heritage vessels are having their final coats of varnish prior to a busy season. New businesses are springing up (including Flour Flower, On the Rocks restaurant and Co Co Cocktail and Wine Bar to name a few). Middle Street is still vibrant and offers great eating options.
The property market is also strong having seen a solid winter – we have experienced a good number of sales and are still seeing many couples from all over Britain wishing to settle in the Port. Property values have gently nudged up in a sustainable way (average Brixham property value circa £250,000 – approximately 2.7% rise in the last 12 months).
Purchasers still look for value and are very in tune with market prices.
On a sadder note, L. J. Boyce lost a dear friend in March. John Butt, who was manager of the office for many years, passed away aged 79 and will be greatly missed. John, ever the optimist, went into thousands of Brixham homes over his 30 years plus with the company. He had vast experience and a great sense of humour.
On a more positive note we welcome Kit Greenslade who is our new IT / Digital Media Manager. Kit is a local Galmpton lad and has great local knowledge as well as youthful energy!
