The year is just over eight weeks old and already we are experiencing a continuation of the strong trading that 2014 enjoyed. After a very strong December, January came alive quickly with strong demand for valuations and a decent number of sales agreed. February saw the arrival of the “snow birds” (couples from outside Devon!), arriving in numbers from the Midlands, South East and other areas to seek their perfect retirement property purchase or that holiday home in Brixham.
Generally prices here remain steady and sensible and stock levels have held up throughout the winter. We naturally expect to see more new instructions as we head into March ready for the Spring Market.The new Stamp Duty regulations have stimulated sales, particularly in the £250,000 to £325,000 range. Mortgage rates and products are some of the best we have ever seen although be warned that rates might be very attractive but the criteria that lenders insist on are still exacting.
We are very excited about the spring market and are just putting the finishing touches to our refurbished office on Brixham’s high street to greet new clients and old friends alike.
